Today's Diary

crafting

Today in our daycare, we were started the day as usual with morning circle. Unfortunately, not all of kids  were able to come due their own reason so we have only 4 of them. Y5, K10, O6 and PM2. During the morning circle, we were talking about what day is today, weather, knowing each name of us and so on.

Then we continued the activity with crafting based on our theme this week which is about the “animals”. So we did some fish crafting. The idea is to make an art using black and white fish picture then cut it out following the shape and then stick it out to the colored card paper with the glue. Then use the colorful silk paper which has been cut in small pieces, crinkle it each piece and stick it up to the fish picture. The color of the silks paper can be anything they like, kids could choose it and arrange it freely. They did really good job even the youngest one (PM2) seemed enjoyed the crafting time. When it’s done, we put the name for each before let the glue dry and we will keep the craft until the last day.

Next activity was singing, it’s important for kids to started slowly learn new Finnish word and with simple song’s lyric which is hopefully they can remember the words easily. We got the “kultakala” song which is fit with our theme this week. We sang along together accompanied by piano and some small dance movements to cheer the kids up. Everyone seemed so happy.

The music activity still continued with a bit more movement and dance while we played a game with the music on-off-stop. One of the daycare assistant played role as a DJ so she had a right to turn and off  the song, when the song ON, then all of us dance with freestyle. But when the song was OFF, we needed to stop dance and not make any movement at all. Everyone dance – stop – dance – stop till couple of songs had been played.

Some free playing after the main activity was filled with board games for bigger kids such us the animal’s domino, ring billiard, memory game, puzzle and also we were spending some energy to move with hula hop as well. Meanwhile the smaller kid was enjoying the motoric game, Duplo.

Day with the kids were nearly end, we made a circle again and flashback of our 3 hours which had been passed and asked the kids how was our day. We ended the circle with thankful song and goodbye until we see them again next Monday.
